“Keeping PCs secure is the IT Departments job!”
Not quite, IT Cyber Security should be on the priority list for every Trust member of staff. Windows updates often include important security fixes, which, if aren’t updated may be exploited by malware or hackers. On average we have around 200 cyberattacks a day, which are successfully blocked, but we all need to stay ahead of the game.
What you can do to help..
- For infrequently used machines, ensure they are powered on at least once a month for a day or so.
- Regularly bring in your Trust laptop, to connect it to the network using a cable if possible, so these important updates get a chance to install.
- Ensure you install the latest iOS or Android updates on your mobile devices.
- Ask us to collect any unused / redundant kit (laptops, mobile phones, desk phones, PCs or monitors), using this form Redundant IT Equipment Collection
To ensure all IT equipment is fit for purpose, we also offer an equipment replacement scheme. The current equipment which is eligible for upgrades can be found on this Service Request Form: Equipment Replacement Scheme
