WoW Do’s and Don’ts: Quick Guide to Avoid Downtime
💻 Caring for Our New Screens – Let’s Keep Them Working Like New!
We're are in the process of rolling out an upgrade to our WoW (Workstation on Wheels) screens — a significant investment to improve your working day. To keep these high-performance touchscreens in top condition, please follow this simple etiquette guide:
🧑⚕️ What WoWs Are For
- WoWs are designed to support fast access to assist with bedside care. They work best for accessing clinical applications like eCARE and are not intended for general computer use.
🔋 Battery Basics
- Each screen uses 3 batteries — they last around 16 hours each.
✅Charge regularly using the docking stations — it's the fastest, most efficient method.
❌Avoid wall charging: While possible, it’s significantly slower and takes the WoW out of action longer.
⚠️ Moving a WoW? Do This First
- A few seconds of checking can save weeks of downtime!
✅Check if it's plugged in before you move it.
❌Pulling a connected WoW can damage the power lead, this is a preventable issue, but sadly, its still one of the most common reported to IT.
💡 You wouldn’t drag your own tech across the room by the cable, so let’s treat trust equipment the same way.
✋ Touchscreen Care
- These are fully touch-enabled, but like any screen, they collect dirt.
✅Clean regularly to ensure smooth touch and mouse responsiveness. See our guide : WOW mouse cursor jumping around screen fix
🔒 Security & Smartcards
- Protect sensitive data and ensure your session stays secure.
✅Use F4 to quickly lock your screen when stepping away — fast and secure.
✅Always take your Smartcard with you when leaving a WoW.
By taking these small steps, you’ll help extend the life of our new WoW screens — keeping them reliable and ready for use whenever you need them.
Thank you for helping us protect this investment and improve everyone’s workflow!
