Where and how can I renew my Smartcard Certificates?

NHS Smartcards automatically expire after two or three years, depending on the last expiration date and will stop working unless updated.
You will receive an on-screen notification for 90 days before your card expires. To renew your Smartcard before it expires, follow the prompts on-screen.
New Renewal Process:
1️⃣Insert your Smartcard into a Trust PC.
2️⃣When prompted click Yes to renew

3️⃣Click Log in

4️⃣Select the login method (Smartcard) and click continue

5️⃣From the Care Identity Management Home screen, click Renew your own smartcard as highlighted below

6️⃣On the next screen, enter your smartcard PIN and click Continue

7️⃣ Once complete, you should receive the below confirmation

🤞You should be able to renew your certificates from any Trust PC. However, if you encounter any issues, please visit the IT Hub (located in the Green Zone, near Main Stores).
What If My Smartcard Has Already Expired?
If you fail to update your card before the 90-day warning period ends, the card will stop working. In this case, log a Smartcard Renewal / Repair ticket and visit the IT Hub, so we can renew the certificates for you.
If you work in Witan Gate, log a Smartcard Renewal / Repair ticket and the Service Desk will contact you directly for when you should pop down for a renewal.
📢Note : The Service Desk cannot remotely renew certificates.
