Paperless Project - Be GREEN, keep it on the SCREEN!
🌳Think before you print....
MKUH is dedicated to aligning with the national NHS objective of reaching net carbon zero, both for emissions under direct control and those indirectly influenced. This commitment aims to be fulfilled at MKUH by 2030 for the emissions within our control. By doing so, we strive to foster cleaner, safer, and healthier environments for our local community, thereby mitigating the health risks associated with the escalating impact of climate change, both presently and for future generations.
Transitioning to a paper-free organisation, while challenging, will play a crucial role in enabling MKUH to realise these objectives and contribute to the MKUH Green Plan.
Despite progress, there remain areas within the organisation where paper usage remains notably high.
What is IT doing to help?
💳Tap-and-Go Printing: Print jobs are only processed when your card is tapped, and they are deleted if not retrieved within 24 hours. This system helps reduce impulsive or unnecessary printing.
🚫Reducing Our Printer Fleet: We are actively reducing the number of printers across the Trust to improve efficiency, lower our environmental impact, and reduce unnecessary spending. As a result, you may need to walk a little further to collect your print jobs—but this small change supports a more sustainable and cost-effective way of working.
👩💻Developing Apps: We are working on apps to streamline printing processes and reduce the need for multiple printers.
What can I do?
🤳Go Digital: We encourage staff to swap printouts for digital alternatives, this includes documents, posters and signage. Utilise your OneDrive or Teams / SharePoint to access the information anywhere on any device with an internet connection. www.office.com
Remember: "Print now, outdated in seconds – go digital."
